General Provider Telehealth and Telemedicine Tool Kit provides three main types of virtual services physicians and other professionals can provide to Medicare beneficiaries, i.e. Medicare telehealth visits, virtual check-ins, and e-visits. According to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), “Telehealth, telemedicine, and related terms generally refer to the exchange of medical information from one site to another through electronic communication to improve a patient’s health. Innovative uses of this kind of technology in the provision of healthcare is increasing.” Click here for CMS’ General Provider Telehealth and Telemedicine Tool Kit. In addition, a list of services payable under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule when furnished through telehealth can be found in this file: Covered Telehealth Services for PHE for the COVID-19 pandemic, effective March 1, 2020 (ZIP).
